TIKIS necklace by BUFFET
Tikis are sculptures originating in Oceania, and represent a man or a face. The most famous ones are the monumental Moai statues of Easter Island.
Tikis are usually males and heavy figures. They have bended legs, large eyes and the head is of disproportionate size. When looking at the expressive mouth, one can imagine a scream. The squat position of the tikis can be compared to the haka performance of the All Blacks rugby team.
Tikis are a symbol for Tiki, the first half-god half-human ancestor which is sometimes identified as the first man. Tiki is said to be the ancestor and creator of humans.
