Montségur, the Capital and headquarters of the Cathar Church.
From 1232 on, Montségur became the Capital and headquarters of the Cathar Church. The population of the castrum reached between five to six hundred residents, where religious figures, civilians and men-at-arms lived side by side. In the North-East area of the castle, ruins of dwellings are still visible today as the last testimony of this settlement.
