Like copper, silver is found in the native state. Silver is the best heat conductor of all metals. Its colour can be white, grey, brownish to black. It is highly malleable (easily hammered into thin sheets) and ductile (easily stretched into very thin wire).
Silver used to be more expensive than gold. The kings of Chaldea (“The Chaldee”) in the 9th century B.C already used silver.
From Louis IV until the French Revolution, the family assets consisted of land and silverware, and at that time the most prestigious silversmiths would craft the metal into real treasures.
With the discovery of America, silver was imported from the New World and its price gradually sank. Silver is considered as a lunar, feminine and purifying metal. Silver brings forth a glow and shimmer to its wearer. Silver is said to help regulate the emotions, improve the quality of speech and balance the nervous system. It can assist with conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, nervous twitches, compulsive and obsessive behaviours. Sometimes silver can turn your skin black; the reasons could be various and each case requires specific care and attention.
