It belongs to the group of feldspars. It can be found in Sri Lanka, India, Burma, the United States, Tanzania; usually it is colourless with a blue-white sheen, or yellow a with white sheen. It owes its name to that shimmer which changes colour when the stone is moved, called 'adularescence', resembling the phases of the moon. In India, a legend tells it has the power to arouse passion if placed under the tongue during the full moon. It attracts love and fidelity. In Greece, it is known as the stone of fecundity, passionate desire, pleasure of the senses. It is the stone of Aphrodite. Moonstone symbolizes the candour of childhood. It is virtuous, without malice and without artificiality, spontaneous and naturally good. It brings reconciliation. It helps balance the menstrual cycle and internal hormone cycles. It has a positive influence on obesity and water retention. It brings tenderness and tolerance. If you are a strict or harsh person, adopting a moonstone will bring softness into your life.
